Thiruvananthapuram, June 3: Manipur’s top-seeded Maisnam Meiraba continued to dominate the junior badminton circuit, winning the boys (under-19) singles crown in the Yonex-Sunrise All-India junior ranking badminton tournament at the Yogendran International Academy here on Sunday.

He secured a straight-games win against Sankar Muthusamy (Tamil Nadu) for his 24th straight victory in ranking tournaments. He has won four successive junior ranking tournaments in Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Chennai and here after losing his pre-quarterfinal to M Tharun (Telangana) in Jaipur on January 5,

Second-seeded Malvika Bansod (Maharashtra) claimed the girls singles title with a facile win against Unnati Bisht of Uttarakhand. The left-hander was fancied to win after the withdrawal of top-seeded Aakarshi Kashyap (Airports Authority of India) and the second-round defeat of Samiya Imad Farooqui (Telangana), winner in Chennai last week. Pullela Gayatri was not due to play here.

Girls singles: Malvika Bansod (Maharashtra) (2) beat Unnati Bisht (Uttarakhand) (3) 21-7, 21-9; Third place play-off: Aditi Bhatt (Uttarakhand) (10) beat Keyura Mopati (Telangana) (Q) 21-19, 2-16.

Boys Doubles: Ishaan Bhatnagar (Chattisgarh) and Vishnuvardhan Goud (Telangana) (2) beat PS Ravikrishna and Manav Raj Sumith 21-12, 21-14. Third place play-off: Manjit Singh Khwairakpam and Dingku Singh Konthuojam (Manipur) (1) beat Khush Chugh (Haryana) and HV Nithin (Karnataka) (6) 21-17, 19-21, 21-18.

Girls Doubles: Treesa Jolly (Kerala) and VS Varshini (Tamil Nadu) (1) beat Aditi Bhatt (Uttarakhand) and Tanisha Crasto (Goa) (2) 14-21, 25-23, 21-15. Third place play-off: Simran Singh and Ritika Thaker (Maharashtra) (6) beat Trisha Hegde (Karnataka) and Arya Shetty (Maharashtra) (8) 21-15, 18-21, 2-17.

Mixed doubles: Dingku Singh Konthuojam (Manipur) and Rita Thaker (Maharashtra) (5) beat Edwin Joy (Kerala) and Shruti Mishra (Uttar Pradesh) (2) 16-21, 21-12, 21-15. Third place play-off: Manjit Singh Khwairakpam (Manipur) and Mehreen Riza (Kerala) beat Ravi and Sakshi Gahlwat (Haryana) (Q) 21-18, 21-19.
