ICC Cricket World Cup final 2011: Excerpts from the show titled Man of the Match on All India Radio

It was a delight to be in the hallowed studios of All India Radio (New Delhi) on the night of April 2, 2011 when India beat Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Former India cricketer Rakesh Shukla was the expert while I presented a sports journalist’s perspective. The energetic Adesh Kumar Gupt and Rita Dey, a former cricket herself and an All India Radio staffer, were the hosts.

I must say that this 20-minute file is culled out of an hour-long show that switched from the presentation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium, taking calls from listeners from across the country and sharing our points of view (besides playing commercials). It was great fun doing the show back then as much as it is in listening in today to hear an outpouring of emotions.
