Shruti Vora and Magnanimous turned in their best showing, both individually and as a combination in a Prix St. George’s test, to help the Indian Dressage team win the silver medal in the FEI Asian Championships Pattaya 2025 in the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club in Chonburi, Pattaya, on Tuesday.
The Shruti Vora-Magnanimous combine scored 70.882 per cent to be second in the PSG test. Divyakriti Singh-Improver (67.118, 11th) and Gaurav Pundir-Electro (66.059, 13th) were the other Indian combines on view on Tuesday.
The previous best score for the Shruti Vora-Magnanimous combination was 67.304, achieved in Troisdorf, Germany, on October 10 last. Shriti Vora’s previous best of 68.775 was obtained in tandem with Sangraal in December last year in Delhi while Magnanimous, the Germany-based 13-year-old Dark Bay gelding, has a previous best of 67.304.
Divyakriti Singh is the only rider from the team that won the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games gold medal in 2023. Anush Agarwalla, who won individual bronze, Hriday Cheda and Sudeepti Hajela were the other members of that team. Anush Agarwalla, who went on to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was not among the contestants for a berth in the squad to Pattaya.
With three of its four combinations scoring more than 68 per cent each, Thailand won gold with 205.853. Until the Pakjira Thongpakdi and Samira O delivered a test that fetched them a 68.735 per cent score from the judges late in the evening, India had been in pole position after Shruti Vora-Magnanimous did well to be the second best combine on view on Tuesday.
China’s Sarah Rao on Geniaal topped the PSG test with 71.382 per cent. The individual Dressage competitions will continue on Thursday with all 22 rider-horse combinations figuring in the Intermediate-1 test. The top 18 combinations will them vie for honours in the Intermediate 1 Freestyle event on Sunday.
