The crisis in the administration of Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) shows no signs of abating, the Principal District & Sessions Judge of the New Delhi District on Tuesday ordering the EFI Executive Committee to take no further action to give effect to its decision to suspend Secretary-General Col. Jaiveer Singh (retd.).
Principal District & Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna held that there was prima facie case in favour of Col. Jaiveer Singh as he has been suspended without following the rules and procedures and even the Observer appointed by the (Dehi) High Court SY Quraishi has not approved the decision of the Executive Committee.
“The (EFI) General Assembly has not been convened for the purposes of giving legal effect to the suspension of the plaintiff. Accordingly, till further orders, no further action would be taken by the defendants to give effect to the suspension of the plaintiff,” the order said, posting the matter for further consideration on December 3 next.
The Principal District & Sessions Judge also barred Col. MM Rahman (retd.) from making any decision as Acting Secretary General and ordered that two bank accounts held by EFI should not be operated without permission of the Observer SY Quraishi.
Things took a turn for the worse in 2022 when a number of Executive Committee members and elected Selection Committee members were told that their term had lapsed and hence they could no longer hold office. The High Court of Delhi reinstated the Executive Committee in May 2024 ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Since then the Executive Committee has been at loggerheads with Col. Jaiveer Singh.
